Because of their unique structure, DAOs offer the promise of enabling a focus on community, rather than just profit, and might offer a more socially-conscious structure; one designed to help individuals everywhere prosper instead of focusing only on the desires of a few large shareholders. This could have ramifications not only for businesses, but also in terms of how we address the causes that are important to us today as a society.

When it comes to the Insurance sector as a whole, the opportunity is huge especially on 2 sides: on the one side, to insure Web3 assets, and on the other, to transform traditional insurers. First off, the Web3 economy is currently under-insured and has huge potential for future growth. Today, out of $1 trillion in crypto assets, less than 1% are insured, so that there's a huge opportunity out there on the first front. Second, companies can leverage Web3 technology to reinvent the insurance value chain, creating propositions and business models that are better, faster, and cheaper. In the near-term, Web3-based propositions can help insurers reach new customers and address unmet customer needs. In the longer-term, Web3 offers the potential to reimagine business models that radically challenge what an insurer can look like.

In the past, VR was too expensive, complicated and challenging to deploy outside of a small group. Today, the cost of a corporate headset is a one-time fee of less than $1,000, and these units can be managed like any other corporate mobile device and can be used repeatedly to deliver training. The study shows that when delivered to a sufficient number of students, it is estimated that VR training is more cost-effective at scale than classroom or e-learning. As VR content initially requires up to 48% more investment than similar classroom or e-learning courses, having enough students to help realize this economy of scale is critical. With 375 students, VR training achieved parity in cost with classroom learning. With 3,000 students, VR training became 52% more cost-effective than classroom training. With 1,950 students, VR training has achieved cost parity with e-learning. The more people you train, the greater your return in terms of employee time saved during training, as well as course facilitation and other direct cost savings.

I was recently studying an Accenture report called "Meet me in the Metaverse", which explores the main building blocks behind the construction of what they call the "Metaverse Continuum". First, what is the Metaverse Continuum all about? According to Accenture, it is a spectrum of digitally enhanced worlds, realities and business models poised to revolutionize life and business over the next decade, and the word Continuum complementing the Metaverse refers to the metaverse as a continuum evolving and expanding across multiple dimensions such as: • various technologies including XR, blockchain, artificial intelligence, digital twins and smart objects – including edge computing. • It encompasses the “virt-real” – the range of experiences, from virtual to a mixture of virtual and physical, in other words, the immersive phygital world, which in episode 1 we described as being truly one of the characteristics of the Metaverse

Recent statistics show the opportunity for companies to dive deep into the Web3, as the expectation for the market is to grow steadily:  The global Web 3.0 market size reached USD 3.2 Billion in 2021 and is expected to register a CAGR of 43.7% up until reaching USD 81.5 Billion in 2030, according to a latest analysis by Emergen Research.  As per some of its underlying technologies, such as the metaverse, the opportunity is very big as well: for instance, a new report by research firm Gartner predicts that by 2026, 25% of people will spend at least one hour per day in the metaverse for work, shopping, education, social and/or entertainment. It’s also expected that 30% of the organizations in the world will have products and services ready for the metaverse by 2026.
